history
Amaretto’s story begins in the Lombardy region of Italy during the Renaissance. Legend tells of a painter who, while working on a church fresco, fell in love with his model—an innkeeper who thanked him with a gift of homemade almond liqueur. Thus, amaretto was born: a sweet, nutty liqueur traditionally made from apricot kernels, almonds, or both. Over centuries, it became a beloved part of Italian culinary tradition—enjoyed after meals, mixed into cocktails, or baked into iconic desserts like tiramisu. Today, amaretto remains a symbol of Italian hospitality and heartfelt flavour.
